Welcome to High Plains

Welcome to our new website, well in truth it’s nearly new, it was created a good few months ago but I’m a bit slow on the writing of the new blog, so apologies for the last 6 months all coming at once !!

We had a busy summer in 2020 with lots of visitors to the lodge in between lockdowns one, two and three.

We were also busy on the farm, some of you may know about us but many of you won’t. We are a smallholding with 50 acres and our aim is to grow and rear as much of our own food as possible, mainly because Stephen and I don’t like shopping. We have two Hereford cows, Annelli and Annushka and a Guernsey dairy cow called Carrie Wen who’s milk and butter is in the lodge fridge when you arrive.

We have a selection of sheep including pedigree Gotlands, Shetlands and some commercial mules; and Dorothy and Barbara our Gloucester Old Spot sows.

A selection of hens wander around the farm and provide us with fresh eggs daily which are sold at the end of the drive.

We also have pet ponies and a couple of miniature donkeys, the usual farm cats, together with Reg our Border Collie and Poppy the scruffy crossbreed. So you are always assured of a warm welcome from someone if you come up our drive!
